Hello from Chicago!

Today is a rainy day in Chicago, so I'm at the hotel after three solid days of running around (Magnificent Mile has kept me busy!)

It was snowing at home when we left on Sunday.  B R U T A L.  The weather there hasn't changed much since we left.  Sigh.

But let's focus on the here and now.   On Sunday, we arrived in Chicago just two hours after taking off (I love the direct flight!) and it was a beautiful spring day.

Hubs and I went to Macy's (the old Marshall Fields) -- we caught the last day of the Macy's Flower Show on the 9th floor.  Signs of spring, people!

Looking down at Macy's (Hubs took this picture obviously, as I would have fainted and dropped the camera.  Oh speaking of my camera, I LOVE.  Especially since I now know how to use the zoom button.  Very helpful!)

Then we went to Navy Pier and walked around.

The "America's Dog" hot dogs are the best.  I'm really craving another one.

We checked out the Ferris Wheel

and stumbled upon this Conservatory.

The next morning, we went to The Art Institute of Chicago, which we loved.

We had our Ferris Bueller museum moment (see below video) while looking at this painting.

Then we went to Millenium Park to see Cloud Gate "The Bean".  Very fun photo opps.

Off to get a Starbucks.  Ta-ta!

  2. this is fabulous...have always wanted to see Chicago's architecture....very jealous...if you happen to snap any other images of buildings with your new camera, I for one would love to see them! The Macy's building is so very elegant...can understand why you were a little nervous peeking over though! What a view! xx

  3. You are hitting all the great spots...well done! Wasn't the Art Institute the BEST?! That photo you have of the painting of the silhouetted trees and cabin is one of my favorites. I have taken my own photos of it too. Can't wait to hear more!

    1. It was wonderful! :) Really enjoyed the Impressionist paintings (so happy I got to see the Van Gogh self-portrait) and we saw the "Picasso and Chicago" Exhibit as well. Hoping to hit a few more museums!

    1. Thanks! As long as it is not snowing & icy, I am good - I don't even mind the rain. It feels so weird not to be traipsing around in snow & ice for the first time in 6 or 7 months!

    1. Yes, good eye Sulky! I had to bring them along, it was snowing at home when we left on Sunday. And I didn't want my runners shown in every photo. :) I bought a pair of Hunters here - I'll probably need them at home when the snow melts!
