Riveting Red and Other Observances

I changed my hair colour back to red this week, I've been a redhead a few times and it's always my favorite look.  New Year, New Look!  Jewel tones only, please.

                                             My Anna Wintour look.

I turned the big 3-0 last Sunday, Hubs and I joke that we're finally both in our thirties now.   (Well, for exactly one year, that is.  Next year Hubs turns 40.)  I'm "Thirty, Flirty and Thriving"!  Hubs says he's been waiting since 2004 to say that line to me!  (The source of that line is around the one minute mark in the video.)

I enjoyed the premiere of Downton Abbey but only 2 minutes shown of the wedding?  C'mon!  Even Edith got more airtime in Season 2 when flirting with that farmer!!  Sigh.

Has anyone heard David Bowie's new single?  I downloaded it last night from Itunes but haven't listened to it yet.

Have a good weekend everyone!

  1. That shade of red is very flattering on you...
now how about some sparkly ruby toned beads for your ears or neck?

  2. Yes, I love that hair colour on you! Belated birthday greetings. I've heard it and I like it, and the video is great. If my mother was alive she'd probably say "remember you used to look like that weirdo?". I love him.

    1. Thanks Sulky! I love David Bowie, he has such a great voice and great style. I also appreciate the fact that he has always been very supportive of his fellow musicians (i.e helping out Iggy Pop with songwriting & royalties, Stevie Ray Vaughn played on DB's 1983 album when he was first starting out, etc).

  3. Hello:
We are filled with admiration for your new 2013 look which is, we think, positively wonderful. As it happens we were both at the hairdresser this morning and now, reading this, we rather wish that we had been just that little bit more adventurous when it came to colour.

Alas, and we have no wish to be spoilsports, but we have absolutely no interest in 'Downton Abbey', but then we have not had a television for thirty or more years.

    1. Happy New Year Hattatts, thrilled to see you back! Of course you do not need TV when you are galavanting around the UK and Hungary!! :)

  4. Pretty color! Jewel tones will go well too.
The new video is very Bowie.
My daughter met his Bowie's wife Iman as they worked in the same building in Manhattan. They were often in an elevator together and exchanged pleasantries. She said that she is more beautiful in person than in any photo.

  5. Happy Birthday - not sure if you saw my post on the 6th, but called your birthday out! ;-) The 30s are grand. I will let you know about the 50s...I love your hair colour. I am not a natural red head, though my brown hair did have red highlights naturally. I like the red, it always feels kind of bad! I think you look very pretty!

Agree of Downton Abbey wedding - too brief

    1. OMG I am such a spin cycle - I completely missed your post...Thank you so much for the shoutout, dear! So sweet of you!

I am not a natural redhead either, but whenever I go back to red, people assume that is my natural colour, only intensified!

  6. Happy Belated Birthday LR! I love your Anna Wintour look. You are fabulous at 30!

  7. The red is great! I've given up on mine, it was hard to maintain (grey roots are a real drag) and the colour kept getting darker and darker (I'm too tightwad to have to done profesionally). So now I'm back to my 'natural' blonde colour... with a bit of grey and some leftover brown-er tones. I've decided that at this age I like multi-coloured hair! Happy 30th. My 30s were probably my best decade in some respects (energy, motivation) but my 50s aren't turning out too bad (travel, relaxation). I'd not met '30, flirty and thriving' before...hard to say very quickly!

    1. Thanks! One of my friends told me to try 'Riveting Reds' shampoo/conditioner by Quantum (hence the name of this blog post), so far it appears to be working, haven't had much fading yet. I agree, red is tricky to maintain!

  8. Your hair looks beautiful!

Happy Birthday! I had an awesome time at 30...and 40 is even better!

Brace yourself for this season of Downton - I've seen the whole thing and the wedding is the least of our worries.

I loved 13 Going On 30! Such a cute movie - of course I used to practice the Thriller dance in my den every day after school :O)

    1. Thank you! I've heard some 'rumblings' about Downton but I will faithfully watch. Everyone in my family knows to leave me alone on Sunday nights now. ha ha

I loved that movie too, completely ridiculous at times but the Thriller dance scene was the best!

  9. Happy Belated Birthday, LR! You are definitely Fabulous at 30, and I love your red hair! :)

The wedding scene on Downton was definitely disappointing! Especially after waiting 2 seasons for them to finally get engaged! I accidentally read a couple of spoilers when creating the section about it in my blog post today, so now I know why some who have already seen it have said what they did about season 3. I am still going to watch it all the way through though.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  15. A belated happy birthday to you, LR! You look gorgeous, the red colour is perfect on you. With the sunglasses, you look very glamorous! I heard the new Bowie song on CBC Radio One on Friday - I can't say I was that impressed but reviews have said that the first release is not indicative of the rest of the album.

  16. Lookin' good, Red. Seriously. And I agree about the disappointment in the 2 minute wedding. I watched Episode 2 today and was shocked that Edith's jilting got more time than Mary's happy union.

    1. Thanks! I know, what was up with that? I did like Edith's dress better than Mary's dress, and the veil was lovely. The actress playing Edith did a great job in that role.
