C'Mon, Join the Joyride

My friend J and I are taking our road trip to see Roxette in concert tomorrow, I cannot wait!

I have been a Roxette fan since about 1988 or 1989 when my sister R bought all of Roxette's singles and albums released on cassette tapes (and the coveted Pearls of Passion album, which was extremely hard to find).   I would beg to borrow her purple ghetto-blaster (!!) and tapes frequently.  I remember when R's Joyride album got stolen at her 16th birthday party in 1991; Mom, Dad and I bought her the tape for her birthday and she had only had the cassette tape for one day before some loser stole it!  (She bought another one immediately).

J and I will be singing along to every single song, rest assured.....in particular, this one (which we both had played at our wedding dances like the good die-hard Roxette fans we are!)  That was so cool.  And people actually danced to it.

Anyway, I found out another one of my favorite 1980s bands, Glass Tiger, will be Roxette's opening act!  We saw Glass Tiger at the Casino a few years ago and they were fantastic.

We are staying at my favorite cousin S's place.....looking forward to my girls weekend!

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Hello:
It would seem that you are all set for a really good weekend. We do hope that the concert is every bit as good as, if not better than, your wildest dreams. Take care and enjoy!!

  2. Well, I was going to say I didn't know Roxette. I asked Bill (who is 64) and of course he knew - there are two of them and they are a Swedish pop group. Then I played the video...I know that song, I always liked it. I'm so unmusical it's unreal. I used to love music, listened to it all the time. I lost it somewhere in my 30s when my house seemed so noisy and out of control I wanted silence; which has been my preference ever since. It sounds very say to say I've lost my music, but you've obviously not lost yours - have a great time at the concert!

    1. Love love love Roxette! J and I had a fantastic visit, we are the type of friends who email every so often and see each other's photos on FB....but only get together in person every few years to catch up....and we always pick up where we left off. We gabbed the entire way to Wpg and back (6 hours each way!)
