California Dreamin'.... for real!

Hello everyone,

Three more sleeps until V A C A T I O N!!

                                                                  Source

Two more days of work and then I will be bidding everyone at the office a gleeful farewell for 10 days!

I have my music vacation playlists mostly assembled, thanks to everyone who listed these great suggestions here.  My reading time has been severely lacking lately....so while on vacation I plan to detox, sit by the pool, enjoy my cocktails and read Tender is the Night (F. Scott Fitzgerald) and Past Imperfect (Julian Fellowes).

But can we please address some important issues first:

Princess Charlene's new hair-do?  Not a fan.

Mad Men's episodes lately?  I'm a big fan, although Don needs to get it together.  Fast.

My good friend J excitedly informed me last weekend that Roxette (Yes, ROXETTE) are touring again - one of my favorite bands EVER - so J and yours truly are taking a road trip in September to see the concert!!  CAN'T WAIT.  I think my favorite songs of Roxette's were the non-hits.  And the entire Tourism record.

I have two possible outfits for our next Mad Men Party, thanks to Mom going through her closets of old clothes on the weekend.  Will report further later.

While visiting my parents, I raved to them how I will finally get to see palm trees!!  In California!!  A confused look came over Mom's face, then she said, "Didn't we see real palm trees in Rome?"

Oh yeah.........somehow I had forgotten all about that.  My bad.

Anyway, I will be back in mid-May with more blog posts (my apologies again for the sparsely attended blogging schedule lately) and of course with a vacation report!

Cheers!

  2. Hope you have a truly relaxing and fab time! I think Charlene's haircut would look better if she had smaller a smaller frame and shoulders! Look forward to hearing all about your trip.

  4. I practically read a whole library on my lst holiday...but not by a pool, sadly. I confess to having never read any Fitzgerald, which is odd considering my passion for that period. I've only ever read Snobs by Fellowes. I hope you'll tell me if Past Imperfect is as good. I think his real gift is in screen plays rather than novels, but Snobs was good.

Have a great time in California!

    1. Thanks Shelley - I can't wait to lounge and read, I haven't been able to lately and it's made me out of sorts! I'm only taking two books as I need to save room in my luggage for new buys!

  5. I hope your trip is wonderful. To be able to sit and read by a pool, what a treat. Tender is the Night is one of my favorite books.

  6. Have the best trip ever! Try to stay unplugged, read voraciously and drink modestly (no need to bloat up by the pool). ; )

Happy to report I have successfully watched all previous 4 seasons of Mad Men...very addictive. Don Draper STILL needs to pull it together in 5? Fabulous...I thought he was finally doing this at the end of 4, driving me nuts in the process. I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Joan. I swear she is the smartest, savviest, chic-est character on the show.

Must Google Charlene too...but not to see hair--just to know who you are talking about. Greetings from Podunk, MI. xo Bliss

Oh I'm so glad you gave Mad Men a chance...I absolutely love Joan too. I kinda have her attitude around the office (including the sharp tongue sometimes)...here's a hint I married the right man -- I was telling Hubs that my workplace is basically up in arms about me going on holidays, because they have to take over my job and no one really knows what to do (or ever took the initiative to learn) and Hubs was like "well of course they are freaking out. You're the Joan of the office who keeps things under control!" :)

  14. Saw your site on Sulky Kitten, just had to click in on the Egregious. Just read both those books and loved them. Have you also read Paris Wife - coupled with Fitzgerald's you will feel so lucky that you're not part of the filthy rich!
