Orange Made Me Notice

Orange has never been one of my go-to colours in my wardrobe palette.  I think I've worn orange twice in my life -- once about 10 years ago, after buying an elcheapo shirt at Target and the other was my bridesmaid dress at Superfab Cousin's wedding three years ago.

Whilst browsing online last weekend, I was suddenly intrigued by all of the orangey-red outfits and accessories....so much that I am almost tempted to buy an orange item or two for myself once my March spending freeze is over.  Here are some of my favorites:

                                                         DVF Jeanne Dress

                                                         Milly Avery Dress

                                                    DVF Takara Dress

Calvin Klein Fit 'n Flare Dress

                                                 Milly Chrystine Sunburst Dress

                                                 Vince Camuto Colour Blocked Dress

                                                 Calvin Klein belted chiffon dress

Maybe I just need some springy kick?   What's your take on orange?

  1. I feel that orange vitamin C fix too...
what will we buy in orange?
That is the BIG question...a scarf, a bag, a tee, or a dress......
    what are you leaning towards?

    1. I think either a dress or a bag...maybe a scarf...or maybe the coral jeans Duchess Catherine was wearing today! She rocked that outfit! :)

    2. The last Calvin Klein dress looks similar to the blue dress the Duchess wore the day after her wedding whilst walking the grounds of Buckingham Palace with Prince William.

  2. Love all these! I can't believe it, but I'm seriously coveting orange and red too now. It just seems so new and fresh. You know any of these would be cute for your California trip!!

    1. Thanks! I know, what is with me these days? Usually I'm the neutral queen with red as my adventurous colour, but orange? I'm living on the edge!

  3. Hello:
We are afraid to say that we really do not care for the colour orange at all and neither of us has at any time, as far as we are able to recall, worn anything approaching it.

However, we did plant a small enclosed garden in a restricted scheme of indigo shot through with orange which, although we say it ourselves, was brilliant in all respects.

    1. I was very anti-orange as well. BUT I love your garden description, sounds divine!

  4. Those dresses are lovely, especially the Sunburst and the Milly Avery. I don't even think about wearing citrus colours, as I don't think I suit them. I'm saving citrus for cocktails!

    1. LOL I hear you about the citrus! I hardly wear yellow and never lime green!

  5. I love that image of the garden Jane and Lance shared with us! Indigo with an accessory in orange, now that would be a very pretty outfit as well.
I have to say I am partial to the Milly dresses. I'm always attracted to that brand.
I have a few pieces in orange, more of a "red-orange" it really is, great color for spring and even fall I think. You could always try a skirt in that color if you don't want such a bright shade near your face, but I think it would lovely on you!

    1. Thanks! I do need some colour around my face, otherwise I am quite pale. I do favour orangey-red over plain orange. Those Milly dresses really caught my eye too...

  6. With Belle Fille's wedding having "tangerine" as an accent color, I feel I have been seduced by the many shades of orange...however, not one hue of it exists on my personal color wheel (cool summer). Should I jump on the orange wagon, it will have to be through accessories. I have a great scarf with hints of orange through it and would love to find a great handbag to go with it--when I am allowed to buy handbags again...which means orange will probably be out of style by next year. As for the dress choice above, j'adore the DVF Jeanne and the Milly. ~~Bliss

    1. I think tangerine will be lovely for your daughter's wedding! I am a cross between a cool summer and a cool winter....I would like to pull off the orangey-red somehow!

  7. Nice picks. There's so much color this spring, it really feels fresh. You can't go wrong with a DVF dress. I have the Takara in gray (see it HERE) from last season and it is super-flattering. I didn't know about the zippers but I only use them for getting it on/off and they are invisible so no problem.

Let us know which dress you pick.

    1. I love DVF pieces, I have a DVF wrap from 2008 that I wear fairly often. I'm sure the Takara looks fab on you!

  9. I'm reticent about orange, but the burnt colour that you have found (like an Hermes box) is incredibly flattering and vivacious without being as 'look at me' as red. You should go for it!

  11. I am loving orange, can't pull it off with my coloring so I wear more coral tones. I would love a fantastic orange pair of wedges or a great clutch though! xo

    1. I have to be careful with orange too - an orange clutch would be quite striking (and fun!)

  12. I found a purple skirt with large orange flowers on it - a chiffon layer over a plain aubergine slip - that I loved, so I got an orange cardi to go with it. I was amazed to find that I could actually wear orange, not my usual choice at all. It looks like orange is THE colour this year, judging from what I saw in Australia...

    1. Orange isn't my first choice either. I'm still debating whether to buy a dress or just buy an accessory or two...definitely will be going shopping in SoCal and will decide there!
